五、摘要:
Due to the complex feedback loops and interconnections among immune, neural, hormonal systems and cytokines crosstalks involved in individual inflammatory response, the output of physiology systems should fluctuate in a complex manner because of the interacting mechanisms over different components that operate across multiple spatial and temporal scales. Furthermore, the complex systems may be “decomplexified (uncouple)” or “collapsed (break down)” under disease. This mechanism intrigues the idea of investigating the profile of the “complexity” pattern of biological signals. However, a key issue while applying traditional method to quantize the nonlinear complexity should be overcome, that is the biomedical signals of patients are highly nonstationary and complicated with the progression of diseases as well as the adaptation to the external environments such as drugs and clinical procedures.
Many physical and physiological systems possess multiple feedback interactions among system components or control nodes. The relationship among output signals of these systems can provide insights into underlying control mechanisms of these interactions. Due to nonlinear coupling among multiple interactions, signals of complex systems are typically nonstationary (statistical properties such as mean and standard deviation vary with time). Thus, Fourier-based approaches are believed to be unreliable for the analysis of nonstationary signals. Complexity Analysis has been applied to quantify nonlinear interaction between nonstationary signals. In this talk, I would like to introduce the new results in the study of cerebral autoregulation, cardiac and respiratory dynamics and electroencephalographic activity.
